Bio

Karen grew up in the countryside of Ramona, CA where she spent her youth playing with neighbor kids, attempting to be mischievous, playing videogames, and making endless amounts of art with her family. Most of her high school electives were spent doing art or Audio/Visual classes. In her free time, she circulated hand drawn comics with her friends, worked as a counselor at a local recreation center, and started up many fake bands that never actually played much music.

After college she spent two years at Grossmont where she had a quick fling with ceramics before she travelled north to Chico, CA. She graduated from CSU, Chico with a Bachelors of Art in Studio Art. She chose a split emphasis in Electronic Art and Painting.

She loves to play with concepts of fantasy and surrealism. Karen feels that the real world is far more weird and fascinating than anything that a human brain can dream up, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try! She loves to combine mediums, work with her husband, Cory Riedler, to create even more extraordinary work, and in general kick it around the art studio. Her main influences include works by Florence Deeley, Hirschfeld, and a slew of comic artists that are far too many to name.

She currently is spending her time managing the popular motorsports online store: ePowerSteering.com, as well as helping the business with it’s day-to-day procedures. In her spare time she gardens and works on illustrations as a freelancer. All while being a full-time mommy to her two kids Otto and Luna.
